he Foundation has manifested its interest in contemporary art from the time of its creation in various ways:

the establishment of a painting competition, the organization of exhibitions by prominent artists at the cutting edge of the current art scene, such as Fernando Botero, Antonio López, Carmen Laffón and Lucio Muñoz. These activities have led to the formation of a contemporary art collection comprising 88 highly significant works, including Membrillero (Quince Tree) by Antonio López and Picador en la Plaza (Picador in the Bullring) by Fernando Botero.

The collection grows each year with the addition of new paintings, such as Páramo (Barren Plain) by José Manuel Núñez Arias, Nocturno 21 (Nocturnal 21) by Javier Buzón Fernández, Silencio Negro (Black Silence) by Manuel Vela, Lost Passion by Klaus Ohnsmann, and Naturaleza Muerta (Still Life) by José Antonio Quintanilla García. A particularly important acquisition was Exploración de límites: persona XVII (Exploration of Limits: Person XVII) by Gustavo Torner.
