he restoration of the Hospital de los Venerables and the refurbishment of its interior to accommodate its new cultural functions have returned the building, declared an Artistic Historical Monument by Royal Decree 3841/1970 of 31 December, to its former glory, along with its beautiful patios, galleries, church and other features of this extraordinary example of Sevillian Baroque architecture and art.
The Focus-Abengoa Foundation therefore initiated a plan to promote the Hospital de los Venerables, comprising specific activities for three different sectors of the population, designed to give the public a chance to discover this 17th-century monumental building of unique historical and artistic value, with a genuinely historical atmosphere, which transports visitors back to a bygone age, charged with a distinct and intangible character that guarantees the aesthetic and emotional quality of the experience. Its privileged location in the historical city centre, at the very heart of the Santa Cruz quarter, surrounded by narrow roads and beautiful gardens, makes the Hospital de los Venerables a very original haven for those who seek the deepest essence of the real Seville.

To this end, the Foundation offers a Cultural tour behind closed doors, which combines a visit to the Baroque building, a magnificent organ concert in the Church by José Enrique Ayarra, the acclaimed organist of Seville Cathedral and Los Venerables, and the opportunity to see a magnificent art exhibition in the Foundation's exhibition rooms.

In addition, the Foundation offers an Audio Guide service (in Spanish, English and German), which provides detailed explanations of the building and the temporary exhibitions. This option is aimed at a broader public and is available all year round (except 1 January, Good Friday and 25 December).

The building is open to the general public free of charge on Sunday afternoons throughout the year between 16:00 and 20:00 hours.

During the course of 2002, more than 55,000 people visited the unique building and its church and temporary exhibitions.

National Heritage Masterpieces or the exhibition of paintings shortlisted for the Focus-Abengoa painting competition 2002, but also a short organ concert given by the official organist, José Enrique Ayarra.
